There’s a common false illusion that says “nice guys finish last”.

This could not be farther from the truth.

Leading with love, integrity, and compassion will get you very far in life.

You can be an elite business person AND create comfortable situations for those around you by making them feel welcomed and appreciated.

The term “Aloha” best describes this way of being.

Aloha means love and fellowship.

When you spread Aloha you make others feel comfortable and open yourself up to new opportunities that would’ve otherwise been closed off.

In this article I will share how you can succeed in business while spreading Aloha inspired by my conversation with executive producer, musician, and entrepreneur Michael Brian.

Michael Brian — Record Executive, Musician, Producer

As the founder of Leave Normal Behind (LNB), the Modern Day Renaissance Movement, I am always connecting with individuals who are great people and talented in what they do.

The mission of LNB is to influence humanity in a positive way by inspiring and helping others become the best version of themselves, give back, love, create things that matter, and encourage others to do the same.

Michael owns and operates the biggest independent recording studio in LA and has had huge records come out of his place working with artists like Gunna, Young Thug, Travis Scott, Chris Brown, and others who frequently record there.

The space is part recording studio and part 24/7 hospitality center for his artists to come create, work, and vibe.

Michael believes in collaboration and there is an open-door policy for everyone who is on the team. From the interns to the engineers everyone has an opportunity to play beats, network, and advance themselves forward by providing value to others.

When you spread Aloha you are able to work and connect with people on a deeper spiritual & friendship level that amplifies the business aspects and drives you toward mutual success.

Michael, in true leave normal behind fashion says to himself every night, “When I wake up tomorrow morning let me a better person than I was today so that I can make everyone else better around me.”

This selfless leadership has brought Michael huge successes.

At 16 he dropped out of high school because he signed a record deal. By 18 he was living alone in his NYC apartment producing beats and building his reputation. Now 31, he is a major record executive, executive producer, and musician.

He learned about Aloha by spending a lot of time in Hawaii and integrating himself into the culture. The whole mantra of “Spreading Aloha” resonated with him heavily because he believes in living authentically, being supportive of others, and spreading friendship.

The best way to find the “Aloha” within yourself is to start doing what makes you happy regardless of the consequences.

Envision what you want and start planning.

Go out to nature — ocean, sand, trees.

Aloha is a state of mind and a way of being. Embody it and find the peace within yourself.

Be self-reflective because being happy starts with doing something that makes you happy no matter how small it is — play music, eat food, and experience something that reminds you of home.

Here’s how to succeed in business while spreading Aloha:

  • Do not compromise your values — Surround yourself with others who respect you and share the same values as you do.
  • Absorb knowledge from others Adapt to how you want use it.
  • Do not take shortcuts You can achieve anything you want that you put your mind too.
  • Focus on becoming the best version of yourself everyday and things will fall into place.
  • It’s about your inner value, not your outward perception Your inner value goes 10x further than anything else. Once people buy into you, they buy into anything that you do.
  • Share your dreams with supportive peopleWhen people believe in you and what you’re doing they will be a friend, ally, comrade and things may materialize in the future.
  • Trust the universe and trust the processeven when it’s hard. Recognize that there is lots outside your control. Do what you need to do each day and do not focus on things outside of your control. Trust that everything is going exactly how it should be going, even in challenging times there is a lesson to be learned that brings you to a higher place.
  • Be a great person As long as you’re doing what you need to do, truthful, prepared, good person, focused, and whole heartedly then good things will happen and you will do well.
  • Be your authentic self — when you are your full self then you give others the permission to do the same.
  • Never be afraid to take calculated risks become comfortable being uncomfortable. Oftentimes the things we need are right outside our finger tips. Remember, if you want something that you’ve never had, then you need to do things that you’ve never done. This process will reward you.

Spread Aloha like Michael wherever you go and watch the positive effects ripple in your life.

Love and friendship are timeless truths that each human craves deep inside. Be the person that is able to light up others through your actions and positive energy.

Doing this will separate you from others and leave a long-lasting and positive feeling within everyone you come across.

Aloha will open doors that are currently closed and you will walk right through them because you are aligned in values, mind, and spirit.
